Oh my God I am such an idiot. Can you say gauge? Why oh why oh why can't I learn. I check gauge, I do my swatch, I measure, then I blithly ignore it. WHY!? Will someone please just smack me on the head?
I can't even write about all the projects that are screwed up right now. ARGH! WHY?
Clearly I have offended the knitting goddesses. Any suggestions on how to get back into their good graces?

Flower Petal Hat
Here it is! Finally a picture of the hat.
I'm feeling a little disjointed in my knitting today. I sat down to work on a new version of the hat and decided that I still hate it. I ended up switching to size 3 needles and still don't like how big it's coming out. I also had to switch to knitting the hat flat because I didn't have size 3 double points or a circular. Which of course means I need to tweak the pattern a little. In starting the hat on straight needles I needed to go back to a pixie hat I was making on size 3's. I had set this one aside thinking that the k2,p2 pattern was just too darn putsy. Well, amazing what doing somewhat complex lace patterns will do to change your way of thinking. (the twisted Barvarian sock is not something I can knit without thinking) This pixie hat is just the thing I needed to work on today. No thought involved at all. (well hardly any, just the occasional counting as I get to the end of a row)
To make matters worse I was online looking for the instructions to the pixie hat (I think I threw them away in the midst of a hissy fit/cleaning spree) I found a pattern to an adorable set of life preserver baby booties made with Fixation yarn. Oh man, I suppose those will be next! Do check out the Charitable Crafters website. They've got a ton of patterns available for free.
Do I look like I need another knitting project?

and the gauge got me
I got a couple of cute pictures of the hat falling down over Addie's eyes. I also bought some fingering weight bamboo yarn to try it again. Sucker for punishment anyone?
I'm also working on a twisted Barvarian sock from Cat Bordhi's book. It's fun but I'm not super jazzed about my color choice. It's again the bamboo yarn in Cinnamon something (I'm too lazy to go look at the yarn sleeve.) I think it would look much better in a solid color.

I love my daughter THIS much
Is that love or what!? Don't ask what the yarn looked like after she was done!
You can see that Lily is sitting on my worst hat disaster ever. It's the pink verigated hat that looks like a pancake sitting on someone's head. I have yet to figure out/attempt to make it wearable. Too bad too because the colors look great on Addie.
My Mom gets the socks this weekend! I can't wait to see what she thinks and get a picture of them on!
The hat is done and is blocking as we speak. It's big. Too big for a newborn. It fits Addie - 2 1/2 year old. Oh well. I think I'll try the hat again only tweaking the yarn and tweaking the increases. I really didn't like the way the M1, S1, M1 looked. I'm going to try a YO instead.

Baby Steps
The socks are done - just have to weave in the ends. Whew! They look really cute even though they aren't exactly the same. Kind of fun and funky.
The flower petal hat is on it's way to being finished. I've got 3 rows of petals done and am starting on the green bud portion. I did it in the smallest size and it still fits Addie (2 1/2 with a big head). I'm halfway convinced I would have to use fingering weight yarn to get the sizes the pattern calls for. I have no idea what Knitwits is thinking! At least I know it's not just me! It's really super cute though... just a challenge.
No progress at all on the shawl.
I have multiple friends having babies so I have to get cooking on hats for them!
